Bought this car bc I was having my second child and needed to upgrade from my compact. Inside is spacious and the features are really nice. Reminds me of a luxury but....defiantly not the most fuel efficient for being a smaller suv. If your using ur AC expect your gas to go fast. Even without out it gas usage seems to be more than the estimated 20mpgs. Which u might expect from a full size suv with a bigger engine but this is only a 4cyl. Also I assume because it is only a 4cyl that explains the lack of excelleration when u punch the pedal. Maybe I'm a speed demon but I don't think so. There are just some times when u need to make a speedy crossing and the mariner doesn't move as quick as I had expected. Even on steady stretches it takes some time to build up momentum. Maybe this is only in the 2.5L 4cyl but who knows. I already bought the car but I do wish maybe I had a bigger engine to justify the gas usage and at least get the kind of acceleration I had expected. Other than that the features make it worth it.
Great car with good gas mileage for a SUV (4 cylinder).
I went to test drive a Ford Escape but didn't like the one I was shown. The salesman showed me the Mariner (in red) and I immediately fell in love with it's looks! It was so much more attractive than the Escapre. when I got inside I was vewry pleased with the interior. Again, much more appealing to the eye than the Escape. After the test drive I was sold. Bought it on the spot. I love the open feel while driving! My very pregnant daughter road in the middle seat and had lots of room! Loved the sun roof (which was an added bonus for me). I love it's size and even though it is a 4 cylinder, it seems to have enough pick up when moving into traffic. It handles very well and can turn on a dime.....unlike my little Ranger that needed lot of room to turn around in. All in all, I am quite pleased!!!!
