Great little engine, feels and performs like a v8 & only a 6 cyl. Good ride, lots of room, Nav system with tge ford sync is out of this world,
This was second Mariner I purchased. I bought the first one from CarMax for my Daughter as a graduation from college present. After ten days she was hit by a drunk driver. Though the car was totaled, it protected her and her passenger. The safety rating of the vehicle is well earned. The side curtain air bags deployed and allowed them to escape with only minor injuries. So, I found an identical one except a 2010. That is how much I like it.......I actually bought two. The vehicle is large for a compact SUV and gets an honest 27 MPG highway at 70 MPH with the Air conditioning and cruise control set. I recommend the 4 cyl with front drive only.....it's all you will really need. Note: The Mercury is the same basic Vehicle as the FORD Escape through 2011.
I went to test drive a Ford Escape but didn't like the one I was shown. The salesman showed me the Mariner (in red) and I immediately fell in love with it's looks! It was so much more attractive than the Escapre. when I got inside I was vewry pleased with the interior. Again, much more appealing to the eye than the Escape. After the test drive I was sold. Bought it on the spot. I love the open feel while driving! My very pregnant daughter road in the middle seat and had lots of room! Loved the sun roof (which was an added bonus for me). I love it's size and even though it is a 4 cylinder, it seems to have enough pick up when moving into traffic. It handles very well and can turn on a dime.....unlike my little Ranger that needed lot of room to turn around in. All in all, I am quite pleased!!!!
