I bought 2011 Mercury Milan Premier V6 (FWD). I bought this with 21k miles and have 23k miles so far. So far, it's been very good car. Has all the luxury amenities that cars twice the cost has and looks really sharp. I average 23-24 mpg but it's mostly highway commute to work. I recommend it to anyone looking for a car can pretty much do anything you want it to do and be. Very versatile vehicle.
An earlier review commented on driver headroom. I wanted to offer a different perspective. I'm 6' and have headroom to spare, and I do have the sun roof. I would recommend a test drive to decide for yourself. The ride of the Milan is great and interior quality is impressive. The leather seats are inviting and supportive over long distances. I took a 5 hour trip last week and had no issues with back or leg fatigue. Handling is great and adapts between highway and lower speed driving. Steering is sharp and responsive, handling turns at speed with ease. Performance is good, though I would expect a little better MPG from this engine transmission combo. I averaged 24 mpg over the past month. On my 5 hour trip, I was on the interstate and got around 28 mpg. The 6 speed transmission is responsive, which is a good thing because it won't hesitate to grab a lower gear when needed. At first I was a little light on the accelerator as it is not as responsive as I am accustomed to. I figured out with the traction control system (TCS), I could be more generous with the throttle as the TCS will help ensure grip even under hard start line acceleration. One of my favorite additions to this car is the Sync system. The system integrates phone and ipod/mp3 players, all of which you can control using voice commands. There is an integrated USB to plug your device into or you can use a line in jack and 12 volt adaptor. Bluetooth is also integrated for handsfree cell phone use and can even stream music, using a compatible device. To make a long story short, its really cool! Overall the Milan is an incredible value for the dollar. I challenge you to find a car with this much quality, performance, and all the bells and whistles for under $20k.
I am thoroughly pleased with our Mercury Milan. We are getting a consistent 28 mpg, which is terrific as far as I am concerned. The storage in the trunk is huge, and with back seats that fold down, it easily carries large, heavy loads. Our model has the sunroof, and even an adapter for our iPod in the console, so we can leave it plugged in and out of sight, without having cords hanging all over and getting in the way. The only minor drawbacks I have found is that, because I am short and have my seat forward, it's a little difficult to get in and out. Also you cannot adjust the right side mirror from the driver's side. All in all, I give this vehicle an excellent rating. It's fuel efficient and comfortable.
