The Nicest Vehicle I've Owned

2005 Mercury Mountaineer SUV Girl - Laurel, MD 06/08/2007

My 2005 Mercury Mountaineer is a wonderful all around personal vehicle. The V-6 is better on acceleration than what I expected... and the suspension is very smooth... it feels more like a big station wagon than the typical truck-based SUV. Gas mileage is average for the vehicle's size and weight. The AWD provides excellect traction control, and the vehicle feels very sure-footed, solid, and balanced. Best of all is the Mountaineer's turning radius. I have yet to run out of roadway while making a U-turn. The turning radius is much tighter than the pre-2002 year designed Mountaineer. This makes for easy parking and manuvering in tight spaces. I'm impressed with the amount of interior room as well. The seat heaters are comforting on cold winter days, and once you get used to them, you don't want to have a vehicle that doesn't have seat heaters. Owning a Mountaineer makes one spoiled. The only annoying thing about the Mountaineer is a seat belt alarm system and key's-left-in-ignition warning system that is loud enough to wake the dead. A pleasant chime should be substituted instead. The vehicle has an automatic door locking system that kicks in a few moments after you start driving... and an automatic door *unlocking* mechanism that sometimes unlocks the door when it is not wanted (for instance, if you are trying to lock the vehicle while warming up the engine on a cold winter's day). To bypass this feature, you will need to simultaneously push the two lowest buttons on the keyless entry pad. The keyless entry feature is just one more wonderful option that Mercury offers... especially for people that have a tendency to lock their keys in their car. I have owned four Mountaineers and have been very satisfied with all of them.

My New Ride

2008 Mercury Grand Marquis Linda J - Las Vegas, NV 07/06/2011

I was interested in purchasing a cadillac or town car. I thought they were the only car to provide me with leg/head/seat room. I was not able to find a newer model with low miles and an affordable price. I lucked up on the Mercury. It has plenty of leg/head room. I just took it on a road trip and the ride was smooth and it was good on the gas. I love the color of the's suppose to be blue but it has a grayish tint to it. I haven't seen another one this color so it makes me feel special. I have read many reviews regarding this long as I service will perform.

Great full size SUV

2009 Mercury Mountaineer Ben D - New Bern, NC 01/11/2016

Rides very well and has many nice features that newer cars have cut. I get about 21 MPG on mix of city and some rural driving, not too bad. The 4L engine is adequate, but noticeable difference to my previous big engine Mountaineer. Overall I am happy with it.
