Transmission: Automatic Color:Brown Interior Color: Black Average Vehicle Review: (4.667 reviews) Fun factor is off the charts. I bought this car for my wife, who commutes to a part-time job. We already have two other vehicles, so practicality wasn't a concern. She decided she wanted a small convertible and after reading a lot of reviews, this is what we chose. We've had it four months now with no issues. I understand maintenance can be costly on these, but we haven't had a single issue. It gets decent mileage (it would get great mileage but it's so much fun to step on the gas in this thing), it's comfortable, and it is the most fun car I've ever driven, hands down. It has surprising room for the driver and passenger, but the backseat is only good for two mid-size passengers and even then, only for short distances.

Cool clown car

I went in pretty much knowning I wanted a mini cooper. I was able to find a nice 2004 with what I wanted. One of the main things is I had to get a manual transmission as I heard the CVTs from that year are notorious for going out early. I'm able to get around ~350 miles per tank if I'm doing a lot of highway driving. One thing I like is the on board computer will calculate your average MPG as you drive. Straight, flat highway I can get about 36 mpg. Overall my mix of driving leaves me at ~30 mpg through the life of a tank. It is a mini cooper so the trunk space is pretty limited. I'm 6 ft 1 though and driving it is still plenty comfortable. It has pretty tight suspension and you feel every bump in the road. Whether or not that is a pro or con is open to interpretation. Shortly after I got it I had some issues with the power steering going in & out. They weren't able to reproduce the problem when I brought it in but has been holding up since so I'll just keep my fingers crossed on that one.

Super fun to drive car with great MPG

Most fun car I have owned to date. I also own a 1986 BMW 325 with a 2.7 stroker motor and 2000 328Ci and it blows both of them out of the water. The turbo provides a fantastic amount of power to the front wheels. I didn't anticipate liking fwd but with the limited slip differential my car has it really pulls through turns. 180 hp and 180 tq in a small hatchback is loads of fun. 6 speed transmission. Very economical on gas, averaging 35 mpg. I'm 6'1" and there is still extra headroom.

Great GO KART and Daily Driver

Both my wife and I fell in love with this car. We have a 2008 Cooper Clubman S. Given its light weight, small size and turbo engine it performs well. It can be used as a daily driver given its gas economy. It really is the best of both worlds. Do get the S rather than the standard as we drove both and noticed a significant performance difference between the two models Pros- Performance, Really fun to drive (like a go kart). gas economy, clubman has decent storage room and rear leg room, both versions have decent front leg room, due to the fact that minis are customized you'll be hard pressed to find two of a kind Cons- rough ride (we have the 18 inch rims which adds to the roughness), the turbo lag is very noticable in the older models (our 2008 is noticable), BIGGEST ONE CON IS THE COST OF SERVICING THIS VEHICLE so do your homework on what it will cost to own this puppy after you drive it off the lot.
