We already have two other vehicles, so practicality wasn't a concern. She decided she wanted a small convertible and after reading a lot of reviews, this is what we chose. We've had it four months now with no issues. I understand maintenance can be costly on these, but we haven't had a single issue. It gets decent mileage (it would get great mileage but it's so much fun to step on the gas in this thing), it's comfortable, and it is the most fun car I've ever driven, hands down. It has surprising room for the driver and passenger, but the backseat is only good for two mid-size passengers and even then, only for short distances."

After a few months the Mini came up with some major problems with the oil pressure, and engine light notifications. The fixes weren't cheap either, but this is what you sign on for with any used car. Once the car was repaired it went back to being one of the most fun and exciting cars I've ever driven. Just like any car, keep it maintained and you will have a reliable vehicle to take wherever you need to go. I recommend a Mini Cooper S if you want to have fun while younger there. Fast fun and safe, with a great stereo to listen to along the way."

With the seats down, I've loaded a large Costco shopping cart woth of itmes! Great manual transmission. Comfortable seats and great heat/air conditioing. Top goes up/down quickly and keeps out elements very well. Pros BMW quality at a fraction of the price Good gas mileage More fun than one should legally have with cloths on Handling, breaking and mechanical feel is top notch Cons BMW cost for all repairs: $180 oil change, $800 break job, etc Must use Premium gas, so this off-sets gas savings Base sound system is the worst sounding of any car i've owned; get harmon kardon system as aftermarket is hard to install and expensive Rear visibility poor Fair resale value"

Transmission: Automatic Color: Gray Avg. Vehicle Review: 4.657 (495 reviews) "Sure, it's a small car. It looks different. But that's what makes a Mini so memorable. It doesn't have a lot of space but more than enough for a couple of weekend bags and a few cases of wine. Its engine won't out-muscle the monsters from Detroit but do you really want to base your own performance and identity on something so...inflated? Borrowed from the Brits and born of a unique engine, the Mini is a sensible car with a growing following of loyal supporters. It drives like a go-kart and when was the last time someone was miserable after driving one of those? Exceptional handling, better-than-average gas mileage, and a style that defies most labels, this is a car for the individual."

Driving a Mini is a blast. It's kind of like driving a sports car. Wait... it really is. I loved my F1 50 until I had to go to the store and park it in the parking lot or in the garage, go to the gas station, pay the monthly bill, or go slowly around corners."

Transmission: Automatic Color: Gray Avg. Vehicle Review: 4.657 (495 reviews) "I went in pretty much knowning I wanted a mini cooper. I was able to find a nice 2004 with what I wanted. One of the main things is I had to get a manual transmission as I heard the CVTs from that year are notorious for going out early. I'm able to get around ~350 miles per tank if I'm doing a lot of highway driving. One thing I like is the on board computer will calculate your average MPG as you drive. Straight, flat highway I can get about 36 mpg. Overall my mix of driving leaves me at ~30 mpg through the life of a tank. It is a mini cooper so the trunk space is pretty limited. I'm 6 ft 1 though and driving it is still plenty comfortable. It has pretty tight suspension and you feel every bump in the road. Whether or not that is a pro or con is open to interpretation. Shortly after I got it I had some issues with the power steering going in & out. They weren't able to reproduce the problem when I brought it in but has been holding up since so I'll just keep my fingers crossed on that one."

Transmission: Automatic Color: Silver Avg. Vehicle Review: 4.696 (495 reviews) "The Mini Cooper S Hatchback is simply the most fun I've ever had driving a car. With its combination of turbocharged power, tight suspension, responsive braking and balance, it's like driving a much more expensive sports car. If you test drive one, you'll want to own it."

Transmission: Manual 6 Speed Color: Brown Avg. Vehicle Review: 4.657 (495 reviews) "Most fun car I have owned to date. I also own a 1986 BMW 325 with a 2.7 stroker motor and 2000 328Ci and it blows both of them out of the water. The turbo provides a fantastic amount of power to the front wheels. I didn't anticipate liking fwd but with the limited slip differential my car has it really pulls through turns. 180 hp and 180 tq in a small hatchback is loads of fun. 6 speed transmission. Very economical on gas, averaging 35 mpg. I'm 6'1" and there is still extra headroom."

As you can probably guess, minis are small but they are a smooth, fun ride and you can park just about anywhere! So far I have had no problems with the convertible except that sometimes the hatch on the roof doesn't deal properly and makes a small whistling sound over 50 MPH and id also like to point out that there is a slight blind spot towards the back ends of the car while the top is up. Overall, it is a fun, zippy, easy to drive car that will definately add a little something to your life."

Transmission: Automatic Color: Silver Avg. Vehicle Review: 4.696 (495 reviews) "2013 and other older years have controls in inconvenient locations. Put a cup in holder and you can't operate windows. Trunk opening so tight. A Kurig will not fit through the opening, that's how tight it is. If you ride around by yourself carting nothing more than a purse or laptop you may like this tiny car, but be sure before you commit. I have to say it is peppy! And of course you can park it anywhere. Good things for sure."

They started making a 4 door original Mini in 2015 so I was holding out on trading until that model came up. It was worth the wait. It's a bit longer and a bit wider with a very economical "green mode" for better mileage although "sport mode" is still a fun option."

Great GO KART and Daily Driver

A street-legal go-kart ... the most fun car ever
