Reviews for 2009 Mini Cooper
2009 clubman mini cooper
Great car, a bit hard to figure out all of the controls and options. Quick, reliable, clubman has more space than a regular mini cooper (which I've had a 2005) I am pleased with the gas mileage and the ease of seats folding down to make room for the unexpected cargo, etc. Overall, a great car for the money, fast, zippy, cute and a true "driver experience" to behold on the road..Would buy another one (again and again!) Super fun to drive car with great MPG
Most fun car I have owned to date. I also own a 1986 BMW 325 with a 2.7 stroker motor and 2000 328Ci and it blows both of them out of the water. The turbo provides a fantastic amount of power to the front wheels. I didn't anticipate liking fwd but with the limited slip differential my car has it really pulls through turns. 180 hp and 180 tq in a small hatchback is loads of fun. 6 speed transmission. Very economical on gas, averaging 35 mpg. I'm 6'1" and there is still extra headroom.
The model I got is the Mini Cooper Works, and it's a sweet car to drive. The acceleration response is very quick. I owned another turbo charged engine prior to this, and there was significant lag. The Mini has very little. This car is a manual transmission and it shifts very smooth, with good gear ratios, in my opinion. The braking is a bit touchy, and for some reason seems to squeak first thing in the morning as I back out of the garage. The stereo is a bit confusing to manipulate, (especially with the USB connection, searching for songs, etc.) and lacks quality sound, but I plan to upgrade the system. There are a lot of neat little features on the car that come with the convenience package. I'm not usually into that stuff, but when buying a used car, sometimes that's what you get. I have found some of these gadgets really cool, like the keyless start/lock option, auto headlights and wipers. I tried unsuscessfully to get the remote door opener synched with the car, (so you don't need to have the opener), but that's about the only problem that I have had with it. I purchased the vehicle for it's performance, handling, and fuel economy, and in those regards this car doesn't disappoint. Even driving it fairly hard in the city I'm getting 30 MPG. The only tough thing about driving it is keeping the speed down. Once you start driving it all other cars on the road seem to be going really slow, and become obstacles. It's the kind of car that you want to drive, and you will quickly be volunteering to drive to pick up lunch, or groceries.
