Mini Cooper S
Got my MCS in Nov07 and have loved every minute of driving it. Its a peppy little bugga and although small on the outside once you settled inside it seems no more cramped than any other car. Took a trip the other day with me and two other guys, average builds, and everyone was plenty comfortable while traveling. Yes it has runflat tires so the ride can get bumpy if your roads are not quite so nice. I drive around and through DC and have been on all kinds of surfaces and it doesn't bother me, but its definitely a preference thing. For the performance, quality and getting +30mpg hwy I don't really know if there is a better car. Only I would consider is if you need cargo space with passengers as when you are able to have the rear seats folded there is plenty but if you had friends in the back you are limited.
Cute but cramped and complicated.
The controls are not intuitive; it is too cramped; the design has a lot of uncomfortable flaws-- for example, I have to move the seat forward so far to be able to push the clutch far enough down, that I cannot unfold the side visor because my seat back is in the way. I don't like having to sit so close to the wheel and never had to do this before, though I am short. Reverse is right next to 1st-- Several people, including myself, have shifted into reverse by mistake when trying to shift into 1st quickly. It is no where near as good on gas as my previous car which was a Prius, even though it is so much smaller and cramped.
Why didn't I do this sooner?
Even though I am 6'2", I easily fit in the Mini. Now, no one can sit behind me so basically I have a three seater. Driving a Mini is a blast. It's kind of like driving a sports car. Wait... it really is. I loved my F1 50 until I had to go to the store and park it in the parking lot or in the garage, go to the gas station, pay the monthly bill, or go slowly around corners.
