I have had my 2003 Spyder GTS for 6 years, I drove it off the showroom floor in Oct. 2002, It has 72,000 miles on it. All I have ever had to do is buy tires and a battery. It is still black ,sparkling, beautiful. and runs like a dream. It's for sure a heard turner! I get calls all the time from people trying to buy it. Dealers included! I went to purchase a new car since mine is getting up there in years but everytime I looked out at my Spyder in the lot,and then looked at the new car parked beside it, I said "That's OK ,I will keep mine" the other cars just couldn't hold a candle to it. Yes Including the new spyders, I guess I will just get a tune up,add XM RADIO, and keep the best car I have ever owned. If you have a chance to but a 2003 Spyder, My advise is to go for it! You will love it, it's a soon to be Classic.
This car is fun to drive, I chipped mine with performance chip and added a cold air ram induction.Sounds pretty good ! The stock radio is junk, replaced with a pioneer double din unit. Turn radius is bad and the torque steer problem continues to be a pain. When you get on the throttle feels like the whole front end gets out of shape. Should have made this car AWD. Needs rear wing to stabilize the ride with some down force. Thinking about going with a super charger and a bigger sway bar to keep the body from twisting so much. Could really use some performance parts in the suspension area as well.
I have now had my 2007 GT for over a year, I feel like I know this car inside and out. Compares to Mustang GT, Nissan 350z, Subaru WRX, VW GTI, (most of these vehicle can cost quite a bit more too) Pros- Fun to drive Good Handling on curvy roads Rockford Fosgate stereo is the best stock stereo I've ever heard. Most bang for the buck your gonna find. Nice trunk Space Looks good Nice exhaust Cons- FWD (because of this, torque steer is a noticeable issue.) Turning Radius of a pickup truck Visibility (you get used to this quick tho) Cheap Leather interior No room in the back seats, (not that it matters, you wont be sitting back there anyways :P ) If you are the type that modifies I recommend a CAI, it provides a noticeable boost in performance and efficiency. Overall this car gets a thumbs up from me.
