I have wanted the new body style Eclipse since I seen it. I finally have one. The GS Sun and Sound Package with the Rocksford Fosgate 6 disc cd changer (BEST STEREO I HAVE EVER HAD) and the sunroof (a first for me). My last car was a Ford Ranger 2001 so this car is quite a difference. The car is very fast for a 4 cylinder engline. The gears shift smoothly, the first gear seems a bit weird but maybe its just me. I like how the lights at night light up blue inside. The looks of the car are amazing. It looks a lot more expensive that it really is. I really wanted the car in Black but I have it in Titanium Pearl, which I really like. The gas mileage doesn't seem as good as I thought a 4 cylinder would be, but I do drive quite a bit with the air on. There also plenty of room for storage in the hatchback with the back seats being folded down. I have driven 2 other people in it, and the 1 passenger in the backseat didn't complain about it being uncomfortable. I really wanted a Nissan 350z, but I like this car just fine.
The Eclipse Spyder has been a reasonably good choice for me. I wanted a front-wheel drive convertible with enough of a back seat for the dog. My 4-cylinder model is zippy enough for my use, and I get lots of positive feedback about it's looks. For negatives, the passenger foot well is small, there's way too much plastic in the interior for the price (and it's started to buckle), it has a few odd creaks and weird noises, and the trunk is miniscule. My suitcase has to go in the back seat. Still, the car is pretty much what I was expecting it to be.
I bought a 2004 Eclipse in 2009 and traded it in 2013 for a 2009 Eclipse. I absolutely love those little cars. My '09 Eclipse was dream! All I did was regular maintenance on the vehicle and I never had any issues. It was fun to drive and had a lot 'get up and go' power. People were surprised to learn that it was 4 cylinder not a 6. I traded it in for a Mustang, but sometimes I miss it (nothing against my Mustang). They are great little cars. I wish Mitsubishi still made them.
