Car for Life

I had a wonderful experience at Car Max. I was very nervous when I first arrived as I had recently bought a used car from an individual and in 3 months the gaskets just blew. New engine was about 6k and I said forget it. I wanted a car with warranty and from someone who would back it. I found myself at Car Max because a friend said her and her husband both bought their work cars from there and they put lots of miles on them. They said they were great buys and said I should try it. I told the salesman that I drive my car till it dies. The car before my disaster I bought 1 year old with 17k miles on it and drove it 8 long years. The one before that, 7. I wanted a car with a long life. I was thinking Honda and Toyota but the salesman showed me several and also pointed out the Mitsubishi Galant. I liked roomy sedans and the gas mileage for a 4 cylinder was definitely a perk. The interior was nice, engine did not hardly make a sound. It ran so smooth and was so comfortable, I was in love. I have been driving it for 4 months and love it. Best gas Mileage I have ever had and so quiet. Honestly my only complaint is the drink holders are not convenient...LOL...but hey, everything can't be perfect. I have to say, I am a very happy customer. Dianna

Proven and Reliable

Galants (new or used) are great values if you are smart and don't pay too much for them. The 2.4l SOHC 4 cylinder motor isn't the most powerful BUT it's a proven and reliable design that Mitsu has been building for decades. The Mitsu service guys here say that they have never had to replace one (unless it was abused.) The 4spd AT may seem outdated BUT in its manual shift mode the Sportronic AT actually works very well with the engine. Shifted manually the Galant gets up and goes but it isn't a slug in Auto mode either (can't say that for the Lancer CVT in Auto mode.) The ride and handling are also well balanced - at least in the SE I own. The 18" low profile tires on the SE improve the handling a lot but the ride isn't harsh or jarring. The SE also comes loaded with built in Navi, Bluetooth, Homelink, rearview camera, 650W stereo, auto AC, power seat, seat heaters, sunroof, foglights, 18" alloys -- all for what a plain Camry LE costs. The interior is a bit dated but seems durable enough and I like the layout better than some of the newer stuff. The only real con is engine noise --the old reliable 2.4 motor just isn't a quiet mill. But all in all I feel I got a great deal when I bought my Galant SE -- just don't pay anywhere near MSRP.
