This car has a CVT. It will drift back, while in drive, on an incline. Acceleration from standing is delayed. Rapid highway acceleration can seem like being in a slingshot. Sometimes the automatic "shifting" feels unusual/out of synch.
I would NOT recommend any CVT equipped vehicle for stop/go commuting or around town. For highway travel out of traffic, it's good. Personally, I'll stick to fully geared transmissions.
Right Car for this Economy
2007 Mitsubishi LancerGranny - Park Forest, IL09/02/2008
This is my first Mitsubishi car. I am very please with it. Down sizing from a 6 cylinder and a larger car to a 4 cylinder isn't to bad. I am learning to give it more gas when entering the highway. It is great on gas and is very comfortable for four people and rides very smoothly. The economy being the way it is, a Mitsubishi Lancer is the car to have.

I will recommend to anyone, whos looking for a sport car, buy it new if possible. And if its used, make sure you buy it from someone who knows really well, about the car you buying. My personal experience is -10, from transmission and fuel pump problems, to a tire falling out of the car, running. Yeah you heard right. The tire came out. Anyways. As i said, you want a mitsu ralliart or an evo. Go to mitsubishi.
