350Z Convertable . . . See Ya
2005 Nissan 350ZMid Life - Southern California09/22/2007
I bought my 2005 Z350 Convertable new 3 years ago with the introduction of the 2006 model year. I've driven the car 28,000 miles over the last 36 months and I'm now at the point of turning in my beauty at the end of it's lease.
I have nothing but praise for the team at Nissan that reintroduced the Z after the decade absence. My main complaint about the car is its speed. It's not unusual for me to look down at the gauge and see 105 MPH on an open stretch of highway when you think you're rolling along 25 to 30 MPG slower.
The only mechanical issues that I've had with the car are that you need to be proactive in monitoring the brakes and if you live in a hilly area, watch your clutch (manual transmissions only!) I had to replace the pads before 18K miles but still have half of the pad left at my service checkup this week. I just replaced the clutch but drove the car for it's first year of life in the hills of California and thought I was Speed Racer during that time frame.
Although the car is truly a sports car, at 6'3" and 220 lbs. I can "comfortably" drive the car up to 3 to 4 hours when necessary. Realistically, it is optimally designed for 5'5" to 5'9" frames but taller individuals can experience the thrill of driving a top performing sports coupe down PCH, especailly with the top down!
