Great Car - one annoying flaw

2008 Nissan Maxima Maxima Fan - Houston, TX 08/04/2010

Interior styling is really nice. The front seats are great - they practically hug you when you sit down. The rear is nearly as comfortable and has plenty of room for even 6'+ passengers. Large trunk too. I really like the body style and the lines of the car in general, but with the addition of the spoiler, wheels, and lights, the Sports Package really makes the car pop. The 3.5L V6 really goes. It truly is a fun car to drive. Even with a lead foot behind the wheel it still gets 23 MPG, calm it down to a conservatively driven 60-65 on the highway and it climbs up around 27-28. The thing handles really well at all speeds - not too soft but not twitchy like some cars can get. I have one serious complaint about the car. If you are planning on buying an 07-08 Maxima (I can't speak for the other model years) make sure you test drive it in an area that you can put the car through some tight maneuvers. The turning radius is really quite lacking for such a sporty and well-handling car. It hasn't been a deal breaker for me by any means, but it would have been nice to know before a few embarrassing three-point turns.

Features & Specs

The 2008 Nissan Maxima's package options make selection easy, although getting the exact combination of desired features may be a challenge. Standard features for the 2008 Nissan Maxima differ between the S and SV trims. The 2008 Maxima S trim level includes dual-zone automatic climate control, moonroof, eight-speaker sound system, Bluetooth connectivity and an auxiliary jack, while the 2008 Maxima SV offers the same features with upgrade options that include leather upholstery, a better sound system and more comfortable seats.

Design & Performance

As the last model year in its generation, the 2008 Maxima's sporty exterior is undisputed. It's built to be flashy, stylish and noticeable, though under the hood, its continuously automatic transmission (CVT) is holding the 2008 Maxima's performance from being a better match its sports car looks. However, the 2008 Maxima still has a satisfying driving experience due to a smooth ride with sporty and calibrated suspension as well as front-wheel drive.

The exterior design is somewhat modern while still maintaining its sportier appeal. The 2008 Nissan Maxima has an aggressive front-end design and an attractive body style.
