If you are trying to avoid a large gas-guzzling SUV, or a mini-van, but you want more room, power and luxury, this is your car. Gas mileage is pretty good considering the powerful engine performance. Corners and feels like a car, but you can tow a boat and make it through the snow. You can can pile a bunch of your kids stuff, luggage, etc, in the cargo area, while having a really comfortable backseat. LOTS of legroom and really nice seats. We waited for a 2006 or 2007, becauase they have some real nice upgrades in 06 (especially the metal rear bumper plate that keeps luggage and strollers from scratching when you drag them out). Save money with the used car, but then get at least the SL with all the features you can find. It was worth it.
Murano welcome surprise
2006 Nissan Murano3 time carmaxer - Florida06/14/2010
Due to my old car dying I was somewhat forced into buying a new car. After reading reviews of all kinds of suv's and crossovers I decided on the Murano. I test drove the Ford Edge and the Mazda CX-7 and the Murano just seemed better built. I have been amazed at how fun the Murano is to drive. I find my self zipping in and out of traffic and was actually excited to go to work because it meant I got to drive. The interior is nice with little compartments and storgae pockets all over. The back cargo area is a little small but I easily haul around my 2 Dobermans. The rear seats recline which my passengers really appreciate. The gas mileage is good but not great I average about 18-20 city and 22-25 highway but I do drive with a heavy foot. I am still not in love with the exterior looks of the car but I get lots of compliments so a lot of people really like it. I feel I now have a dependable fun to drive vehicle that will last as long as I want to keep it.
Too large a car payment on a not great car
2006 Nissan MuranoErica Washington - Hawthorne, CA05/01/2015
I should have NEVER purchased this car. It runs terribly, as if it's going to fall apart at any moment. I have had to put quite a bit of money into repairs in the just over a year that I have had the car. I got a bad deal on the financing, and I have a car note that is too high for the car in question. A bad deal on a car that is only okay.
