As the purchaser of a 2007 Xterra SE i had high expectations for a vehicle with high quality. My previous Nissan a 2003 Maxima was flawless and I now wish I had it back. After 700 hundred miles the passenger side door on the drivers side o the Xterra became inoperative and I took it to a local dealer for service. This is a seroius safety issue and the local dealer has been more than helpful in trying to resolve this problem. However, the part to fix the door has been on backorder for over a month. i have been given a loaner for this time which is greatly appreciated. The part fianlly came in and was installed. Before I could pickup the vehicle a call from the dealer indicated there was further problems now with the child safety lock and they would need to keep the vehicle. The new part required is also on backorder and therefore I am still wating for its arrival. In some news groups I have seen this issue mentioned both for the Xterra and Pathfinder.
Nissan Xterra is a great Sport Utility Vehicle! Nothing to complain, great on gas, very low on service, very reliable. I had BMW X5 before, NEVER EVER GO BACK, much less worries about going to the shop every other week. Japanese car manufactures are the BEST!

My husband I were in the market for an SUV. We have one dog and know that we want to have a least one more plus a child or two in the near future. The Nissan Xterra was visually appealing to us, because, to us, too many SUV's today almost look like upgraded vans. The Xterra had the rugged look we liked and included 4WD. The Xterra drives very similarly to a truck, and the back seats fold down for maximum cargo capacity. The roof rack is sturdy and enables us to have a full load indoors and out. Nissan is an exceptionally great car maker, and we know our Xterra will last us years and will be able to take on whatever adventure heads our way, from babies to mountains.
