The Versatile Xterra

2014 Nissan Xterra BZ Dad - Westminster, CA 08/09/2015

This vehicle is just plain useful. From bringing home lumber on the roof rack to the storage under the cargo floor for tools and road side emergency supplies. I have a place for everything so there's nothing rolling around. I love the first aid kit cavity in the hatch. Two glove boxes, an oversized sunglass cubby and this nifty space in front of the shifter that holds a book on CD as if it was meant to. Need more space, just fold down the rear seats. It drives very well considering this is a truck underneath. For one tank of regular fuel I drove like your grandma and got 22 mpg combined city streets and freeway. The 261hp 4.0 liter engine gets up and moves when you need it too. It does everything I need or expect it to do.

Xterra Xtra special

2006 Nissan Xterra Carol - Kansas City, MO 04/01/2015

I love my Xterra! It has great get up and go, it's fun to drive (it's a 6 speed manual), and just an all around good car. Haven't had any issues with it. It's also a bit taller than other trucks, so visibility on the road is good, and we can always find it in a crowded parking lot! And every time I look at it, I just think, "It's so pretty!"

2005 Xterra Offroad edition

2005 Nissan Xterra LVgoat - Las Vegas, NV 02/06/2008

I love this truck. I have had Ford, Chevy and Dodge pickups as well as Acura, Lexus and Infiniti sedans and I find this vehicle to be a great mix of what I loved about all of the above. The offroad edition feels very burly. I like to drive offroad and go camping in less accessible areas and have had no problems at all. The plates under the truck give me confidence that I'm not going to rip it up driving on rocks and washboard. The ride is smooth enough and powerfull enough to be a nice city/freeway driver also. It meets my needs for space - I am 6 feet tall and my 6'4" 275lb brother often sits behind me and he has adequate room. I also love that I can fold down the seats, remove the back cushions, inflate an air mattress and have an instant camper. I have only a few minor complaints: 1. The center console arm rest is terrible. It is positioned way too far back. Fold down arm rest on the right side of the driver seat and left side of the passenger seat needed badly. 2. Gas mileage is a bit worse than you might expect. I get about 16.5-17.5 in the city (some freeway, not much stop and go). All in all due to the poor mileage, this feels like a "luxury" type item to me, my Acura TSX still gets way better mileage, so I kept that for cross-town runs. The Xterra is great for outdoors, camping, and when I need to haul my family of 4.
