I recently replaced my Jaguar XJ8. I considered and drove over a dozen cars from premium class to economy to convertibles. The car that I finally selected was the Pontiac G6 GT convertible. This car is loaded with every option available. The 3.9 liter V6 engine (yes 3.9L) provides more than enough power and torque to drive this car off the line. On the highway, it provides plenty of zip to pass and stays in the background when cruising. The engine sounds like a roadster when you accelerate. The handling is tight in the turns and crisp on the highway with no sensation of floating or drifting. Inside, the car sounds like a coupe when the top is closed, except for a little wind when you go above 80mph. Other reviews are critical of the lack of trunk with the top down. Those people should not own convertibles; what do they think should happen when you open up a hard-top? The Monsoon stereo is very impressive and my XM subscription transferred over easily. The leather seats are very comfortable and adjust to any position I need. My wife likes the adjustable pedals. Standard GM plastic makes up the dash, which is something I'll have to get used to. Overall, this car is amazing. I maintained a 3 car list while searching for my next car. Every time I found another car to go on the list, one would have to come off. The G6 went on early and never came off, so that's the one I bought. It beat out Jaguar, Ford Fusion, Mazda 6, Kia Optima, Hyundai Genesis, Mazda RX8 and a few others. If you are considering the G6 GT convertible, just go buy it. You won't regret it.
I have not seen a G6 like the one WE purchased. There are plenty G6.s around, but not with the hood scoop and big tail fin this one has. I am a tall person, therefore it took some adjustment to getting the seat where I'm comfortable, but I did it. With the way the car itself sits,it;s a little tough judging the front and rear distance in parking. Different vehicle. Just gotta learn the car itself. I am not sorry WE purchased it though.
Love this car! Looks great, handles and feels awesome. Sporty little car - just what I was looking for. Not great on gas around town, but awesome highway mileage.
