I was pretty skeptical about buying this machine. I read about it, I joined some forums . Finally I took the decision to get a G8 base model -6 cyclinder. I used to drive a G35 before and then a 3.5L Nissan Altima. I am very happy as of today with the car , the comfort is amazing when compared to both the cars I have used. The acceleration is fast , there is an initial lag in acceleration which needs some tune up. The gas mileage is lil on the lower side compared to the Altima , I drive mostly on a highway to work, I get an average of 25-26. I believe this car would have been a real perfect one if pontiac still continue to manufacture it. RIP pontiac !!!
i gave it 4 stars for the quality since I felt there is alot of plastic feel on the dashboard inside the car , the stereo and the speakers are not that great , but Its doesnt matter much for me , I can upgrade it anytime in the future, the stereo of my choice !!!
I bought a 2009 G8 about a year ago, and I LOVE this car! I've always liked Pontiacs since they provided good performance and styling at a reasonable cost, and I drove two Grand Prix's from 1993 to 2003. I think the G8 is the best car Pontiac produced. This car handles great, and the power in even the base V6 model, which I have, is great. I do a lot of driving on interstates in the mountains of western VA, and I have NO problem accelerating past 18-wheelers up hill. The only knock is the interior is a little cheap looking and already dated, but it's a minor drawback compared to all the great features in this car. As another reviewer stated - if this car is reborn under the Chevy label - I'm buying!
2009 Pontiac G8Conan - Baltimore, MD07/11/2010
I have had mine for 1.5 years now and it is still exciting to drive. Lots of room for all adults and a comfortable ride on the long hauls. I haven't had any problems with the car yet. No rattles or vibrations. It is a very solid car.
This is one car I may keep for good.
Though its tenure was short-lived and it was only available in the US for a single model year, the Pontiac G8 is still largely considered one of the best American sedans produced in recent history. The G8 was first developed and produced in Australia, where it was known as the Holden Commodore. It was rebadged for the North American market in 2008, where it replaced the Pontiac Bonneville.
