First of all, I'm delighted to be the owner of my fourth Porsche and second 911. I sold the last one in 1980 with misgivings, so over the years, have had an eye out for another older model with many of the same attributes. While I'm enjoying this Carrera immensely, there are some areas where Porsche has cut back on engineering and quality. For example, the amount of fiberglas substituted for metal. Yes, it cuts down on weight, but the finish and feel just aren't the same. The car had a number of small nicks and dings on the front and sides, so of which buffed out, but others will require repainting. The interior is still the same no-frills finish, heated leather seats but not fully electric, manual rear view mirror, power windows and locks, excellent sound system though lacking connection for iPod, good carpeting and front and rear floor mats. Performance is superb. Going through the 6-speed gears is a delight, and the spoiler does extend at 74 mph. In-town riding is a little bumpy because of the low profile, high performance tires, but once on the open road, the car's a delight to drive, and the road noise is diminished by design. Handling is nimble and with only 50,000 miles on it, there are many more miles and years of satisfaction with this model.
