Great style, handles very well on curves, power when needed. Very Sexy and Classic vehicle, glad I found it !
When it comes to the ultimate driving experience, there really is nothing better than an open top roadster with great looks, plenty of horsepower, and that IT factor that seperates you from the grocery-getters on the road. The 2008 Porsche Boxster S is a great example of just that! The Porsche Boxster has been around for several years and redesigns, and has remained one of the most popular Porsche models for a couple of reasons: Great handling mid-engine exotic car, and great entry price for someone looking for a luxury/performance auto. The model I'm reviewing is the S with the 295 HP 3.4L Boxer 6 cyclinder engine and 6 speed manual trans. This power plant provides gobs of torque and never needs to redline in order to get power to the pavement. The massive 19 inch (optional) wheels are not only great to look at, but make the car feel planted and stable. They are wide enough that from the rear of the car, it looks like it means business. The exhaust note is subtle for some tastes, but at low-end grunts, it sounds amazing. Driving this car is effortless and it goes wherever you point it because of the sporty suspension and steering. Everything is rock solid. As for the interior, the comfort is considerable. I'm 6'-3" tall and fit well inside the cabin. The two seats adjust just enough for anyone and with the seat heaters...well let's just say heaven! The dash has a ton of information available by a lever on the steering column (Tire pressure, oil, gas mileage, etc.). This will take time and effort of reading the manual to understand everything available. Some models have a LAP timer for the track! The Bose Sound system is okay, but nothing special in my opinion. However, this is a small interior and you are never going to get massive sound from a small interior. The fit and finish on everything is German quality. Don't use the cup holders, they are not meant to be used and will fail you every time. My Porsche came with an Ipod adapter thank goodness, because the integrated antenae (in the windshield I believe) doesn't pick up my favorite station. One last note, the pedals are placed for spirited driving and are close together. If you have big feet, you may want to get minimal driving shoes to wear...seriously, work boots will not cut it and you'll be hitting two pedals at once. Finally, the convertable top is why I bought the car. I go everywhere top-down. It takes one clamp in the center and then a button electronically takes the top down and up. You must hold it all the way and wait for the deck lid cover to close completely and you'll be on your way. It's fast enough that you can do it at a stoplight without holding traffic! You can operate it at up to 30 mph as well. There is not a better looking roadster with the top down than the Boxster S. Simply fantastic fun and the wind is controlled by the back windscreen for the most part. NOW you can hear the exhaust! And even better, you can see the smiles of all the people you pass by as they envy your PORSCHE!
My 04 Boxster S is just plain wonderful. More fun to drive than any car on the road, and do not even think of underestimating its power and manuvering abilities. Just wonderful and fun. My car is in Speed Yellow and stands out from all the rest.
The Porsche Boxster is a convertible that serves as Porsche's entry-level luxury roadster. Porsche worked to make each consecutive Boxster model year more appealing than the last. Though even its oldest models may be a bit pricy, the feature-rich Porsche Boxster is a compelling option for anyone looking to buy a used convertible.
It's no surprise that the Porsche Boxster is a delight to drive. Comfort and features have remained at the heart of the Porsche Boxster's priorities throughout the years. Few other vehicles are able to drive as smoothly as the Boxster, even on older roads. Its superior handling and responsive steering keep the Boxster fun on tight turns. Porsche built each iteration of the Boxster with powerful engines, and they really come in handy for long stretches of road that give you a chance to cruise with the hood down.
The Porsche Boxster is one of the first entry-level luxury convertibles. It's one of the more affordable Porsche vehicles too, and it balances style and performance well. The value it brings to the table is why the car became extremely successful on the road and in the hands of consumers. Though older models may require more maintenance, used Boxsters also cost roughly the same amount as a newly-released economy car.
This early success has caused competition to increase in the entry-level luxury car segment. As a result, Porsche regularly tweaks the Boxster to better compete with many of its rivals like the Mazda Miata or the Chevrolet Corvette. This means that discrepancies between model years matter a bit more for the Boxster than other car brands; more modern model years are more likely to have the most cutting-edge technology.
The two-seat Porsche Boxster has been tweaked often to become more compatible with newer cabin technology and adopt modern design trends. All Boxster models are equipped with rear-wheel drive by design. The Boxster only has three trim levels, including:
Throughout its production, the Porsche Boxster was frequently updated to have more powerful engines in all iterations of the vehicle.
In earlier years, a five-speed manual transmission was standard for the Boxster. A five-speed automatic transmission was optional with a configuration to shift gears manually as well.
The Porsche Boxster is an angular and stylish convertible. Its many features and accessories make it unique, and recent iterations of the vehicle have a crisp style.
