I traded in my Mercedes ML430 for the Porsche Cayenne S. Where I live I need 4 wheel drive and plenty of power, hence the 8 cylinders.
PROS: This vehicle is very well made. The small details are covered and the workmanship shows at every point. I have Toyota Camry as well and it pales in comparison. The vehicle has plenty of power, you hit the gas and it goes, simple as that. You sit very high up and get a clean view of the road. The engine is a work of art. I am 6'4" and have plenty of headroom inside the vehicle. The gas tank is larger than expected. The front of the vehicle has a cover under the front bumper to protect the underside from rocks or other road issues.
CONS: The storage area in the trunk/boot is rather small compared to the Mercedes or most SUVs. Expect 12mpg around town and 15mpg on the freeways. You need to read the book to figure out the electronic locks.
I am a fan of German cars in general and was looking for a BMW X5 when I stumble upon the Cayenne. I never thought I could afford one, but I found this one and after test driving it, bought it on the spot.
What a great SUV, drives like a car, and the performance in normal mode is good, until you press that "Sport" button and it changes completely. Extremely happy with it. HIGHLY recommend it.
