The Ion was not our first pick. We are a 2 person family just starting out. We were looking for a compact car with no bells or whistles. Our budget was very limited and we needed a car to get from work to home. When we actually test drove the Ion for the first time we were very impressed with the overall quality of the car. Handling was excellent, the interior was comfortable, and the setup was very simple. We ended up test driving it a few more times just to be sure but especially for the price it was just what we needed.
The Car of my Dreams
2007 Saturn IonGreg - Ft Worth, TX07/23/2011
I have never owned a Saturn, much less one with the features like this. I got almost 35 miles a gallon and everything works great! One of this biggest new changes was the Onstar system. This functionality was put into play when two weeks after receiving the car, I was in a no-fault accident. Pushing the Onstar emergency button and telling the person I was in an accident had emergency vehicles to me within two minutes!
I will never get rid of Onstar. It has already paid for itself thousands of times faster because my phone was dead and I would have had no other way to contact emergency people because the other car drove away.
Nice Around Town

My Saturn Ion is great for around-town driving. It's a smaller car and makes parking very easy. The engine runs great, and the ride is very smooth for a small car. I am averaging about 27 MPG in town, which isn't too bad. My highway mileage is about 30 MPG. I have the Ion 2, and the driver's seat could use some further adjustment capabilities, but that's not a huge issue. The stereo/CD system sounds great, and that makes me happy! This is my first Saturn - I bought it with 47k miles and it is running like new. I'm sure I'll be driving this car for many years.
