In a nutshell...there is the shredded wheat side of me that says this car isnt very practical...it has very little trunk space because it is contoured to fit the top, the interior storage is behind the center console which is cumbersome to get to especially while driving, like say for example you need to retrieve sunglasses, the visor is too small to hold a CD holder and there is a bit of a blind side on the driver side...now...my frosted side says man is this car fun to drive...it accelerates well, hugs the road nicely, handles well in the rain, sits down low to the ground...is comfortable to sit in...and is fun to drive either with the top down or up...car is a real head turner to boot...i get lots of compliments on it...the top is pretty easy to take down and put back up...for me the fun far outweighs the negatives...only real knock i would have is the driver side blindside at about your 7 o'clock position, but i got used to trusting my mirrors...i like to call this car my poor man's corvette :)
I am 5ft 10in tall, and I am not comfortable most of the time, seat has to be adjusted all the way back, seat fully adjusted forward for me to fit. To adjust the windows, I have to twist my arm back to get to the button. Roof frame was broken with waterpouing thru passenger side window. taillight lens fill up with water during heavy rain or washing, while driving, it is hard sometime to get into second gear, had it checked out at the dealership during roof being repaired, techs say nothing wrong plus while shifting, you need to fully depress the clutch to the floor to shift. never get the color black, no matter what you do, you can not keep it clean, washing it in the summer, due to the heat the black retains water spots all over unless its blown down to get the water completely off, the color is stunning if you can put it in a glass room and never take it out
I wanted a simple used basic car, and that's what I got in my Saturn Ion. It had 15,000 miles on it, and the only thing I had to replace so far after driving it an additional 10,000 miles is the windshield a pebble broke. Great car.
