I have been pleasantly surprised by the Vue. Although it is not a large vehicle, it often feels like one due to the loose suspension; however, as a former Impala owner, I appreciate a supple suspension. The Honda designed engine provides plenty of juice for getting up to highway speeds in a hurry and passing with ease. There are creaks and rattles, but I think this is a malady shared by all Saturns because of the polycarbonate body panels. The vehicle did not come with a roof rack, but I was able to install one from Amazon.com with relative ease. Although I try to car pool as often as possible (because the in town mileage is somewhat poor; though the highway mileage is fantastic), when no one else is in the car, the lay-flat back seats and front passenger seat are incredibly useful for hauling many or large items. It has helped me immensely in my move from my apartment to my new condo. Overall, it beats out the comparable vehicles from GMC and Chevy, which are made in the same plant, because of the Saturn's V6 engine and dent-resistant body panels. It also beats out the Ford competition (Escape) for the same reason. The only small SUV that I would consider to be superior to the Vue V6 is the Rav4 V6, but the price differential is substantial.
We have got this vehicle from Carmax, and returned it within 2 weeks. It's spacious, but V6 engine doesn't have enough power to carry this vehicle, also not recommended for towing. Read about the V6 transmission issues. Front assembly of this car was already poor. We started hearing the rattling sound in 2 days. It's a low cost SUV, but the quality is the same for the same buck.
I got this car after totalling a Honda Accord EX. Needless to say this is a big change, but I love being up high and having good visability. The seats stain easily and get uncomfortable on long trips, but it is a pretty comfortable car overall. The gas mileage isn't as great as a Honda, but for an SUV it exceeds expectations. I have room for everything I want to carry, and traveling is a lot easier. The back is big enough to move furniture, etc. around as well.
