Was not crazy about the car when I bought it, but it's been a pleasant surprise! I bought it to drive back and forth to work because of the mileage, but it's actually quite fun to drive and has a good bit of room. Im averaging about 27 mpg and have had no problems with the car. Seems to be very reliable
Great Car with some cut corners.
2008 Scion xBAndrew from TN - TN08/24/2012
Overall I love this car. It is a great car for the money and is great quality everywhere that counts. However, it is obvious that Scion/Toyota cut some corners in order to keep the price down.
-Interior could be more functional.
Annoying center mounted guages guages.
Guages could use more color unless you like orange
Console for shifter is way too big.
Have to push a button to toggle between clock, gas mileage etc...
Overly complicated radio.
Interior is too dark. Everything is black and some functions do not light up.
-Needs more armrests.
-Only has a 4 speed transmission which kills gas mileage.
-Seats are great for short trips, but could be more supportive on long trips.
-A lot of plasic on the interior
The good (far outweighs the bad):
-Motor and platform have a great reputation.
-Lots of cargo space
-Fun to drive.
-Lots of features for the $$$$
-Is capable of almost 30 mpg on the interstate if you drive smart.
While there are a few annoyances I would happily buy this car again and if the reputation holds true hopefully I will be driving it for many years.
Scion XB much improved!
2008 Scion xBCruisin' Mama - Kenosha WI02/08/2008
Having driven the first generation XB, this model has improved all the things that I disliked: Comfortable seats are now adjustable in height on driver side; more horsepower (YES!!!) definite improvement; this is a zippy car; has optional lighting under dash. Seating has room for tall teenagers without grumbling!! I'm very happy with this purchase. Only thing left on my wish list: 4-wheel drive in an future version.
This sports car buying guide has 18 different sports cars for shoppers who want a little more driving excitement in their lives. There’s something for everyone here, from zippy four-cylinder convertibles to monstrous, 500-horsepower-plus sports cars that really push you back in their driver’s seats!
