I had a 2009 Scion XB that someone ran into at very high speed and totalled. The 2008 model is very similar to the 2009. It was a smooth transition. Love both of the cars. Had a Toyota Corolla before and many larger passengers were uncomfortable in it, but the XB is spacious with lots of legroom. It has power and performed flawlessly when I drove it from Los Angeles to Las Vegas, a trip that involved multiple hill climbs and descents. These cars are priced comparable to Corollas, but deliver much more in many ways and still get good gas mileage, mine is 26.
Best of all worlds

This is my second purchase of this exact vehicle; minus the manual transmission. The first was brand new from Car Max in Baltimore and I have loved it for 2 years now. This second one is for my sixteen year-old. When it came time to choose a vehicle that is safe, looks great, has great gas mileage and plenty of room to haul people and stuff, this one is it. I use mine not only as an everyday driver but also to haul my DJ equipment for gigs. If your 6'3"" you will still have headroom in the backseat. That's hard to come by in a vehicle that averages 30mpg overall. When time comes to give mine to my son, I'll probably buy the 2014 version.

LOVE IT...the car is not only fun, it is sensibly equipped and well designed. It has everything you need and want to have fun, while at the same time being and excellent car for an active family. It is very roomy and user friendly. I love the syle and the functinoality. Gas mileage is not bad.
