My xB is a 2006 that had just 9,000 miles on it. I've had it for 5 weeks and I love it. It's fun to drive, I love the way it looks, it's unbelievably roomy and the mileage is fantastic (over 30mpg in the city). I wish it had cruise and I wish the locks would automatically engage when the car starts moving, but those are pretty small things in relation to my overall satisfaction. I am so glad I bought this car and would recommend it to anyone.
This is a stylish ride. It is fun to drive. My very large dog fits nicely in the back with the seats down. Feels a bit like a go cart. The gas milage is great using the 5 speed transmission. It does feel a little cheap. There is a lot of plastic and cardboard. There is no luxury here but it is a very utilitarian vehicle. Pretty darn pleased... so far.
I test drove a lot of cars in this class and the one thing most of them had in common was lack of power. Not this car. Lots of power. In fact, when you take off from a stand still, you have to be very careful or you will spin the tires a bit. Not sure what this will do to the life of the front tires. With all that power, you would think the gas mileage would suffer. But I'm getting 25 MPG. And the way I drive, that's amazing. Someone who doesn't tend to accelerate as fast as I do would probably get better gas mileage. It costs about half of what it did to fill up my old car, and I still fill up once a week. My old car was a Mercury Mountaineer that said it should get 18 MPG, but only got 16 MPG. The seats are pretty comfortable, but not great. No lumbar adjustment. Love the Aux plug so I can plug in my mp3 player. Stereo sounds good but doesn't have a lot of power, so if you like your music REALLY loud, you might want to upgrade the stereo. Love being able to change the volume on the steering wheel. The cruise control works well, but the controls seem backwards to me. Probably just used to my old car. The car doesn't have automatic headlights so you have to turn them on and off yourself, which is fine with me. Rear windshield wiper only covers middle 50% of back window. Main windshield wipers have only one setting for intermittent and it's not that long. Every other car I have owned since the 80's all had adjustments for the delay. Not this car. This is not a luxury car, but it's nice. When you take the features it has coupled with the gas mileage and the low price for the car, it's a really good value.
