I recently purchased the hot lava release edition of the 2008 Scion xD. The car is amazing. There is plenty of room on the interior but it keeps a compact look. Trunk space is small at first but fold down the rear seats or even just slide them forward and you have plenty of space. The rear seats also recline allowing your passengers additional comfort. The basic stereo is excellent especially when considering the aux and ipod connections which allow you to listen to any mp3 player without additional equipment. Fuel mileage is great. I commute about 10 miles each way per day most of which on a highway and I average 32 mpg. The multi display on the dash even shows instantaneous mpg and when cruising on the highway I can reach as much as 50 consistently. I would recommend this car to anyone looking for a cheap reliable car for a low price.
Pro: Excellent all round visibility. Easy to get in and out. Excellent ergonomics and man machine interface. Excellent acceleration and breaking. Environment control (AC & heating excellent). Con: A rough ride if you hit holes in the road or speed bumps. Short wheel base makes you go over speed bumps VERY carefully. Toyota makes the finest cars in the world. I've owned everything from a RR to a Morgan three wheel. BUY TOYOTA
I average about 32mpg in combined driving, which I like. You sit up a bit higher than some other cars. Even though it has no trunk, the back seats fold foreward and I have carried some pretty big items back home in it. I have the 5 speed, and love it!
