I've had my XD for a year and a half and have 35,000 miles on it. I still love every minute of driving it! I have the 5-speed stick shift and love it. It is sporty and fun, easy to maneuver, & fits anywhere. I can fit my 3 kids in the backseat and their stuff in the back. It's not my top choice for long trips, but for a day-to-day vehicle it fits us fine. The gas mileage is stellar! Even with mostly around town driving, I've averaged 30 mpg consistantly. I can get up to 40 mpg on a long highway drive! The gas tank doesn't hold much gas, but it really doesn't need to. The seats fold down easily. Actually, everything on it is driver-friendly and easy to use. The dash looks and feels solid, not cheap (can't beat Toyota). Both A/C & heat work quickly. The Ipod hooks in easily, as does my husband's portable satellite radio. Can't say enough about the sound system. My speakers are amazing, whether I'm listening to radio, Ipod, or CD. The stereo is versatile, easy to use, and sounds great. Even though it's a small car, I sit upright and have plenty of head and foot room. I do get some road noise and have to go slow over speed bumps, but I never feel like I'm sitting barely above the pavement. That's a big difference between the Scion and other subcompact cars I've ridden in. My XD doesn't feel like riding in a shoebox! Overall, I'm so glad I have this car & may never get rid of it! You just can't beat what you get for the price on this car.
This car is manufactured by Toyota so you know you're getting a quality vehicle from a company with a solid reputation. It's given me better fuel mileage than the numbers here would indicate with as much as 40MPG on road trips. The xD has a solid feel for being so small and comes with quite a few features though it's a base model. The 1.8L Four cylinder engine with 5Spd is a peppy combo with good get-up-n-go. All in all, probably the best car in it's segment. I wholeheartedly recommend!
I LOVE this car. I've put about 20K miles on it so far, and there has not been a day when I haven't thought how glad I am to have bought it. It's fun to drive, handles well even in bad weather, easy to park, a/c is cold, and did I mention it's cute, too. It looks small but feels bigger inside, and offers the driver a higher driving position than the Honda Fit, Mazda3, and a couple others I test drove. The only thing I don't like is the headrests jut forward so I have to adjust the seat to compensate, and the seats aren't the most comfortable - they are adequate, though. I'm in the car over two hours a day and I can live with them! I'm getting 38-39 mpg consistently with a manual transmission. Not phenomenal mileage, but good enough. So far there have been NO problems or issues with this car, other than the oil filters are different from the other Scion models so you can't bop into any old oil-change place and get serviced. Hopefully, as this car becomes more popular that will change... I think anyone looking for an reliable, inexpensive, fun commuting car should check out the Scion xD!!
