Perfect car for most

Despite its small size, its VERY roomy inside. I'm 6' tall, 300lbs and have plenty of space. The 3 cylinder engine is in the rear, and still has plenty of cargo space for groceries, or anything. I've hauled 4 bags of 80lb concrete no problems. Even a full grocery shopping. One thing that people don't realize is that all smart cars use a MANUAL transmission, that automaticly shifts. So there is a delay when the car shifts. You also must wait a second when you go from reverse to drive, as it has to actually shift itself over. Its a bit odd at first, but you get used to it. I've taken many trips out of state with it and it handles wonderfully, even at 90 (its speed limited to 90). Its also pretty peppey for having such a small motor

Such a CUTE car!

Pros: This is the cutest car I've ever driven or owned. It parks anywhere, it gets a ton of compliments, and it has an amazing turn radius. Despite its size it has decent carrying capacity and is roomier than you would think. Cons: there are very few mechanics who can service it. The only places who can fix it have to be authorized Smart Car centers, which can be difficult if you don't live in a big city. If you do, then it's really not a problem. However, if you have kids, two seats is pretty limiting. This isn't a downside to me, but might be a deal breaker for most drivers.

You Gotta Love A Smart Car

It is fun to drive. Gas mileage is great for a non-hybrid/gas-only vehicle. (I wish they marketed the diesel model in the US). Easy to park. You don't have the sense that you're in a "micro" vehicle. I tell people that it is small on the outside and big on the inside.
