Pros: This is the cutest car I've ever driven or owned. It parks anywhere, it gets a ton of compliments, and it has an amazing turn radius. Despite its size it has decent carrying capacity and is roomier than you would think.
Cons: there are very few mechanics who can service it. The only places who can fix it have to be authorized Smart Car centers, which can be difficult if you don't live in a big city. If you do, then it's really not a problem. However, if you have kids, two seats is pretty limiting. This isn't a downside to me, but might be a deal breaker for most drivers.
It's fun but not a car. It would definitely depend on the friend. Again - the Smart is NOT a car. Many people who've been disappointed with the Smart are comparing it to a car and I've decided that that is not what the Smart actually is. It's actually a go-cart. Gas mileage, performance, handling, comfort are equivalent to a go-cart with a nice interior and a surprising amount of clever storage space. So if you think it might be fun to drive a go-cart daily, the Smart is for you. I personally love it. I grocery shop, take long-ish trips in it, take my dogs too and from the park in it, etc etc. It's my daily driver.

I love this little car their is only myself and 3 small dogs so for us it is a great car. Keep in mind that you can carry quite a few bags after shopping but nothing big from the hardware store(sheets of wood or 2x4's) but it's ready for a lot of other things.
Nothing compares to the feeling of the wind whipping your hair back as you cruise in a well-built convertible. Well, almost nothing—the feeling of getting a great deal on your vehicle purchase is definitely a close second. You can enjoy both of these awesome sensations at the same time by selecting a high-quality convertible that sells for less than $20,000.
