I love my little smart car, I literally fill it up like twice a month and it costs 18-20$ to fill it using premium. Its a 3 cylinder so it doesnt get going super fast but I can cruise at 80 on the freeway no problem and its as smooth as any other car. Ive owned a genesis, a jeep cherokee, 2 jaguars, a camery, a Volkswagen beetle and a civic in my life time and the smart car is by far the best most efficient vehicle purchase I've made by far. Sure its small but it gets me where im going!
Despite its small size, its VERY roomy inside. I'm 6' tall, 300lbs and have plenty of space. The 3 cylinder engine is in the rear, and still has plenty of cargo space for groceries, or anything. I've hauled 4 bags of 80lb concrete no problems. Even a full grocery shopping. One thing that people don't realize is that all smart cars use a MANUAL transmission, that automaticly shifts. So there is a delay when the car shifts. You also must wait a second when you go from reverse to drive, as it has to actually shift itself over. Its a bit odd at first, but you get used to it. I've taken many trips out of state with it and it handles wonderfully, even at 90 (its speed limited to 90). Its also pretty peppey for having such a small motor
The SMART CAR Really Ts !
2015 Smart FortwoJohn Balentine - Las Vegas, NV04/09/2017
While the Smart Car is really small on the outside, it has plenty of room for two big
people on the inside. While the trunk area is small too, it is adequate for several bags
of groceries and other shopping needs.
The engine is small too,,but it is geared for plenty of speed around town and on the interstate. The manual / automatic transmission takes some getting used to, but it
works fine and predictably
Overall we are really enjoying the Smart Car and marvel at the German engineering
to include so many luxury amenities in such a small package. It handles and drives
great and is very inexpensive to own and operate.
