Subaru Forester was the first to voluntarily install side air bags. To me that is a company committed to safety. Subaru's get the highest 5 star crash rating in govt testing, reliability is high, goes in the snow and any conditions safest care to own and drive. I'm an ex defensive driving instructor and safety and reliability is important to me. I dont like the 13's and newer models as they raised the height and hence center of gravity and dont hold the road as well and why i got an 11.

After some digging, it turns out this year/make/model is notorious for this issue, yet there are not any recalls in place to fix the issue. I would recommend going with another year of this model to avoid the same issue. This vehicle also does not get the fuel mileage that is stated in the vehicle details. I drive all highway miles and average 27 miles per gallon, not the stated 32.

I feel totally safe in my car. Love my moonroof.

My car has a smooth travel and quick braking. It is reliable and fits my family of 5 perfectly warm and comfortable. The moonroof and heated seats make for that added comfort and enjoyment of both hot and cold seasons. I feel this vehicle is safe and sturdy and would get another one in the future.

Love our Subaru Forester XT

The Subaru Forester XT version has a LOT more pep and responsiveness than the 2.5 litre engined Forester. Gas mileage suffers a little (we are currently getting between 24 and 28 highway and 20-24 in town) but the additional acceleration more than makes up for that. I like the AWD and the option to "manually" shift the car, and the S1 and S# gearing and suspension adjustment for windy roads or snow or rain. If you are really in the snow, you can select XMode which is like a four wheel drive mode for up to 25 miles per hour (it automatically drops out of Xmode above 24 MPH). Real leather seats. Nice stitching. Well appointed with dual air and heat. Heated front seats. HUGE sunroof with windbreak at front. Handles wonderfully.
