Soon after moving from KS to the steep, curvy, sometimes snowy and icey Teton mountains I realized I needed a different car. I researched then chose a Subaru.
Man, am I happy! In the mountains life must go on in the cold and snow. There's no choice! I confidently and safely drive on roads thru conditions that would keep me homebound in KS!
I love my Subaru! I've told my family: I may even start sleeping with it!
Lacking in Fit and Finish
2009 Subaru ForesterCB - VA09/23/2009
Bought one of these cars after thinking about owning one for years. The 2009 is a nice upgrade from previous years. It's roomier (very nice), quieter, rides better, and has a more modern interior. I think mechanically you can trust these cars. Subaru has built a pretty solid reputation on their boxer engine and all wheel drive drivetrain. Based on what I've heard from other owners these things stay on the road for years. What's lacking however is the fit and finish of this car's interior. Noises from the inside are quite annoying, lots of fasteners that buzz, panel pieces, etc. Given its solid feel on the road and the soundness of its drivetrain it's really disappointing that the same level of craftmanship wasn't shown in assembling the inside. Oh well, gas mileage is good. I see 30/31 mpg hwy if going 60mph. At 70mph it drops to 28mpg. Mixed driving: 24/25mpg. Lacks some low end torque compared to previous years but otherwise acceleration w/ a 5spd manual is sufficient. I would recommend this car with disclaimers.
Subaru Forester LL Bean spoiled me!
2006 Subaru ForesterKeith - Colorado Springs, CO02/28/2015
I'm an older retired guy that's a very careful driver. I've never felt better or safer than with this car. Even like it better then Lincoln Town Car I had.
Drives great, so comfy and SO many gadgets to play with.
Plenty of power, good gas mileage. 17.455 for all in town short trips. 27 highway. So proud to own.
