2011 Subaru ForesterR Mccown - salt lake city, UT10/23/2015
Before this forester i owned an 02 forester for 13 years. A forester is the only option this time also. Subaru Forester was the first to voluntarily install side air bags. To me that is a company committed to safety. Subaru's get the highest 5 star crash rating in govt testing, reliability is high, goes in the snow and any conditions safest care to own and drive. I'm an ex defensive driving instructor and safety and reliability is important to me. I dont like the 13's and newer models as they raised the height and hence center of gravity and dont hold the road as well and why i got an 11.
The Subaru Forester XT version has a LOT more pep and responsiveness than the 2.5 litre engined Forester. Gas mileage suffers a little (we are currently getting between 24 and 28 highway and 20-24 in town) but the additional acceleration more than makes up for that. I like the AWD and the option to "manually" shift the car, and the S1 and S# gearing and suspension adjustment for windy roads or snow or rain. If you are really in the snow, you can select XMode which is like a four wheel drive mode for up to 25 miles per hour (it automatically drops out of Xmode above 24 MPH). Real leather seats. Nice stitching. Well appointed with dual air and heat. Heated front seats. HUGE sunroof with windbreak at front. Handles wonderfully.
Soon after moving from KS to the steep, curvy, sometimes snowy and icey Teton mountains I realized I needed a different car. I researched then chose a Subaru.
Man, am I happy! In the mountains life must go on in the cold and snow. There's no choice! I confidently and safely drive on roads thru conditions that would keep me homebound in KS!
I love my Subaru! I've told my family: I may even start sleeping with it!
Subaru Forester Overview
The Subaru Forester crossover SUV offers used car buyers strengths such as maneuverability and solid handling. The Forester is a practical vehicle that prioritizes day-to-day usefulness over all else. An attractive option with many feature packages, the Subaru Forester is engaging to drive.
Subaru Forester History
The Subaru Forester debuted in 1998 as Subaru's best option for consumers interested in the emerging class of compact crossover SUVs. In 2003, Subaru released a new version of the Forester with a more streamlined model. More recent Foresters are larger, roomier, and more car-like. The third-generation crossover SUV has a larger frame and includes better materials. In the fourth generation of the Forester, Subaru tweaked the vehicle to improve the feature capabilities and increase fuel economy slightly.
How It Drives
The Subaru Forester blends the versatility of an SUV with the handling and performance of a sedan. This means that the Forester is roomy for passengers while still being fun to drive. By taking the best of both sedans and larger SUVs, the Forester is well-suited for family drives.
Used Subaru Forester Value
As a comfortable, efficient, and spacious vehicle, the Subaru Forester excels at satisfying the needs for a larger vehicle with improved handling for day-to-day use. The Forester sits in the compact crossover SUV class alongside the Chevrolet Equinox, Ford Escape, and Toyota RAV4.
