Reviews for 2012 Subaru Impreza
Low Mileage! Perfect Condtition! Best Purchase
It's great car can't wait for winter to test out the AWD
AWD at a good MPG
I purchased the 2012 impreza sedan new and I now have 61000 miles. I see there are great reviews and bad ones. Remember, this is a compact car so comparing the compact Impreza to it's competitors makes this car worth a look. The interior space is spacious for a compact. It rides above average for a small car especially considering AWD. I only average 31 MPG with mostly highway miles but considering the AWD system, I am satisfied with that. There are a few major problems including the annoying boxer engine. It is so loud mated with the CVT that it sounds like a diesel engine. The boxer design doesn't appear to add any extra value. The cabin gets so noisy, I can't hear the Bluetooth connection phone call. The dashboard and dash speakers rattle which is disappointing and appears to be common in their forward cabin design. The engine does burn oil prior to the 7500 oil change so I have to keep extra oil at all times and check often. The OEM tires had to be replaced at 36k which may be a fault of the AWD system. Subaru boxer engines are notorious for head gasket problems and although I have no signs of issues yet with this new 2 liter design, I am expecting problems down the road. The radio is awful in the premium trim line. If you need a car for occasional inclement weather but don't want to pay for poor gas mileage then the Impreza is for you. It is reliable overall but assume you will burn oil and may need head gaskets if you keep it into the 150k range. Yes, it has it's share of rattles and poor fit but again, it is a compact car with over 60k miles for me so that's to be expected. When you factor in the low base cost new or used, AWD for Midwest winters, MPG considering AWD, interior legroom, overall Subaru reliability history, I am pleased with the Impreza for my family. it isn't perfect but it is one of the best in the cheap and small car category, especially on those snow days.
one car to do it all
it's a great little car that can be a daily driver, road trip battle wagon, a snowy mountain shuttle, or weekend track day car.
