I did A LOT of research on all wheel drive cars, decided to give our Saburban a break as well as the gas mileage. That being said at the end of the day the legacy wasa the obvious choice and the gas mobey we are saving is actually making the payment. we are averaging 28-29 MPG and still have the all wheel drive. the car handles very well, I wish would have picked a model with the adjustable passenger seat, that will be a must have on our next Subaru purchase, best of it was built locally 30 mles away. support you local workers!!
I took the 2007 Subaru Legacy wagon for a test drive, and was extremely disappointed. It is a beautiful car from the outside and the interior stylings look great. However, once you try to get in it, your impressions will change dramatically. The driver and passenger seating area is extremely cramped. My wife is 5'10" and could not get comfortable behind the wheel. I'm only 5'5", but have large legs, and I felt like I didn't have much room to move when controlling the gas and the brake pedals. When I got in the back seat, I did not feel like I had any leg room. I'm used to driving a 2007 Honda Accord, and this car seemed like a compact car compared to my Accord. The engine performance was somewhat disappointing also. For a V6, it felt more like a 4 cylinder when I tried to accelerate on the highway. My Accord is a V6 and it felt nothing like that. The car's handling was among the best, however. It moves great on the highway and in the city. If only I could get comfortable in the driver's seat. I would only recommend this vehicle to someone who is short (5'5" or less) and fairly thin. Anyone else would feel cramped. Also, no one taller than that can really sit in the back seat either.
This is my first Suburu, I like the overal styling, comfort is good, acceleration (V6) is awesome & smooth.. car stereo system is "premium" Harmon Kardon which I am comparing to my previous Bose in my Mazda 6 - it is NOT the same and doesn't sound near as good. Speaker placement in Suburu is high on dash and sound does not "surround" driver, even when adjusting fade left/right/center/front/back. This is my biggest complaint. Because vehicle is AWD, it has taken some getting used to when I am turning corners, seems to hesitate & bump some. I also think there might be a problem shifting down when it gets below 30 mph. I was told to take it to a Suburu dealer for this problem.
