2006 Subaru OutbackSpacey - Southern California mountains08/19/2010
This is my second Outback. For living in the mountains and dealing with snow and ice, I have found the Outback to suit my needs provided I get a set of quality tires that will aggressively tackle the winter demands. My only complaints/wishes/suggestions 1) tighten up the steering for mountain roads. 2) Better gas mileage 3) Looks, I miss the 2-tone of the old models. I had a 1997 before and it looked classic. Other than that - good choice.
My 2006 Subaru Outback 2.5I 5 spd manual has the best blend of utility, sporty handling, and efficiency of any car Ive ever driven. Normally the car gets between 26 and 27 mpg. On highway trips it exceeds 30 mpg. We can take our family of four and the dog on weekend vacations and have plenty of room for everyone. On the road my Outback handles like a well manner sedan and can stop on a dime. Touring twisty mountain roads in this car is a joy. Ive driven my Outback through snow more than a foot deep with out getting stuck. We've explored miles of Virginia National Forest on rough logging trails in the Outback. Its crossed muddy creeks and cow pastures. The roof rails are great for carrying bikes, skis, and canoes. When our current Outback is ready for replacement, Im certain we'll buy another Subaru Outback
This by far has been my best used car purchase.
