The 4 Runner is the most perfect blend of reliability, spaciousness, durability, and style. When searching for a car, many SUVs were too big or too small, or poor reliability, very poor gas mileage and/or poor value. The 4 Runner does not have ideal gas mileage, however not as bad as other SUVs. It's not too big that I need to worry about trying to fit into parking spaces either. I've had my '06 SR5 for about a year now. I am creeping up on 90k miles. No major issues whatsoever, expect for some front-end alignment, and needed to have the struts replaced. (That was all covered under the carmax 30 day warranty.) Anyway, I think the previous owner was a little harsh on the vehicle.
The A/C pumps frigid in the humid south, 4WD works great on the snow and on the beach, the acceleration is great, nice ride, and great handling. The icing on the cake is the electronic roll-down back window. Yeah, its nice to ride with the back window down, however it's actually very convenient when making a quick grocery run, or hardware store. The key fob allows you to roll down the back window with the push of a button. This gives you access to the entire back of the vehicle for quick loading or removal. The back seats fold flat, which turns the vehicle into a flatbed for hauling of larger items. Also has aux input for Iphone/Ipod/MP3.
