Haven't had the car very long, but seems very durable. The features on the car are great, espeically the CD changer. I wish the radio had the local radio station information displayed. The lighted running boards are very nice and so is the heated seats.
Since my son was born in 1996, we have been using a 1997 Toyota RAV4 for our camping trips. While that vehicle did great and is still running fine, my son is now 6 foot 5 and has to hang his legs out the windows of the RAV on long trips. We needed a bigger vehicle that could handle (far) off-highway driving in the desert but still be comfortable enough for the long drives to and from the desert. The 4Runner is quiet and smooth to drive on the highway, so the drive to the desert is easier to handle. Once off the highway, we have found that it handles well on the average dirt road and is able to get us through deep sand and steep rocky 2-tracks. It also fits all four of us and our gear pretty easily. When we unpack at a camp site, we can get to gear without having to unpack and repack every item with surgical precision because of the room for gear. When the desert heats up too much in the next couple of weeks, w will take it to the mountains. We will be using this SUV for many camping trips far into the future!
If you are looking for medium size Sport SUV that capable to bring you to the camping, fishing, hunting, skiing and other sport activities, you probably won't find anything better than 4Runner. I like that this year model has much better interior ergonomic. I could not fit in front seat of 4Runner of 2001. Now I fill very comfortable in this SUV. Cargo space is much bigger than I expected. I had Dodge Durango before this SUV and it is bigger than 4Runner. But when I packed for my vacation trip to the other state, I was pleased with size of the cargo space. It handling is pretty good and I did several long trips on 4Runner. Great SUV. I don't have any complains
