I became interested in purchasing a Four Runner to replace my Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo because of a friend's excellent experience with his Four Runner. This vehicle has more interior space than my Jeep; is quite comfortable; easy to handle. Its ride is somewhat stiff, but I will get used to that. I am very pleased with the appearance and the interior. The A/C and radio are excellent; options for the FWD are clear and accessible. The transmission is smooth and the steering responsive. It is a longer, larger vehicle, so will require a bit of adapting. The side view mirrors are large and generous. The two rear rows of seats collapse readily to provide space for hauling and for my dog to have plenty of room. I haven't tried to utilize the seating capacity yet.
This is one of the true remaining SUVs out there. The body-on-frame chassis allows for the truck like ride. If you're looking for the crossover/car-like ride, this is not your beast. This is for driving to work during the week and getting dirty on the weekends; or both. The redesigned grill gives the SR5 a sinister look that turns quite a few heads. Rugged lines stay true to the previous 4 generations, keeping the original 4Runner look there. The power back window is still one of the coolest concepts and separates the 4Runner from it's competitors. The interior is spacious. I recently drove across country and back and did not feel cramped in any way. My only gripe with the entire truck is the touch screen entertainment/navigation.
This is our 2nd Toyota. After owning a RAV4, we specifically sought out the 4Runner when our family needed a larger vehicle. Great resell value, very low maintenance costs, safety features produce lower insurance costs as well.
