I became interested in purchasing a Four Runner to replace my Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo because of a friend's excellent experience with his Four Runner. This vehicle has more interior space than my Jeep; is quite comfortable; easy to handle. Its ride is somewhat stiff, but I will get used to that. I am very pleased with the appearance and the interior. The A/C and radio are excellent; options for the FWD are clear and accessible. The transmission is smooth and the steering responsive. It is a longer, larger vehicle, so will require a bit of adapting. The side view mirrors are large and generous. The two rear rows of seats collapse readily to provide space for hauling and for my dog to have plenty of room. I haven't tried to utilize the seating capacity yet.
I have had my 2008 SR5 V6 for 7 years and it has proven to be the most enjoyable vehicle I have ever owned. Perfect reliability, useful utility configuration, great comfort, excellent audio system (I use MP3 CD's), and a great looking design. With normal dealer maintenance there have been no problems at all. I love the unique lift-gate power window. The only design element that you need to adapt to are the heat/air buttons. I have no trouble with winters in Iowa, and always look forward to driving this sharp looking model. I installed a chrome horse head hood ornament so I could always look between a horses ears as I drive... I like to think of it like riding an ultra-smooth horse.
If you are looking for medium size Sport SUV that capable to bring you to the camping, fishing, hunting, skiing and other sport activities, you probably won't find anything better than 4Runner. I like that this year model has much better interior ergonomic. I could not fit in front seat of 4Runner of 2001. Now I fill very comfortable in this SUV. Cargo space is much bigger than I expected. I had Dodge Durango before this SUV and it is bigger than 4Runner. But when I packed for my vacation trip to the other state, I was pleased with size of the cargo space. It handling is pretty good and I did several long trips on 4Runner. Great SUV. I don't have any complains
