I have owned 4 runners for the last 8 years. They have never let me down. Very dependable vehicle. Great for large animals. How would have recommended Toyota 4runner for anybody who wants a sport utility vehicle for driving in the snow going off Roe calling large loads and transporting large animals.
The 4Runner is an incredibly reliable car, comfortable ride and it will last a long time. I bought this car because I needed something bigger to tow my boat and it tows my 19' powerboat with no problems at all. It has a 5,000lb tow capacity and I'm well below that so no worries. It's a great car, the limited edition has more technology than some newer models. These things hold their value and you will own it for years. Great purchase.
I got my '96 4Runner in summer 2007 when it had 140,000 miles on it. Now, just over 1 year later, I've put 27,000 miles on it. It's a Toyota, so I expect it'll go forever. I do live in Maine, so rust is an issue with all the salt and sand on the winter roads. I do have a few rust spots. I love my 4Runner for a few reasons: 1) Space - I fold the rear seats down and I have tons of room for anything imaginable, particularly my dog and camping equipment, as well as the ability to tow my boat, etc. 2) MPGs - Yes, this is an SUV but I've never had lower than 20 MPG. 21 is my average, which I'm happy with. 3) It's a beast in snow. I've always driven AWD Subarus, but having 4WD and the power of my 4Runner has been great in Maine winters! 4) My only maintenance has been oil changes and new front brakes. Toyotas are totally reiliable. I'll probably drive this 4Runner until 200K miles, when I can afford to upgrade to a newer one. Hopefully a new one will still get 20 MPG+ like mine!
