Customer Review Summary for 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid
Not up to Camry snuff
2007 Toyota Camry HybridHP - Grain Valley, Missouri02/07/2010
While an excellent driving, riding car with excellent economy.....there are problems.
1. Cruise control unstable....surges...can't maintain constant speed if the road is anything other than flat.
2. Speedometer reads 3 mph higher than actual speed. (as checked with my Garmin GPS)
3. Daytime readability of Instrument cluster is terrible. Dash lights must be turned all the way up to read the speedometer. Then, at night, the auto dimmer does not drop the lights nearly enough to avoid glare. Lights behind central instrument panel (radio, etc.) are blinding at night unless manually dimmed way down.
4. Brakes squall loudly when applied while backing the vehicle.
I've been to Toyota dealer and told nothing can be done about any of these things. I've owned the car since January, 2007. Like it except for the above problems.
Camry Hybrid Gas Mileage
2007 Toyota Camry HybridJimbo - Columbia, MD06/12/2007
There are many great features with our limited edition Camry Hybrid, and the better-than-expected highway gas mileage was a pleasant surprise. On two recent trips we averaged 43.5 MPG with cruise control set at 65 MPH. Maybe the 16" tires helped. City driving is a little less than anticipated - closer to 36 MPG at the 35 - 50 MPH speeds. Driving habits also change once you become used to driving a hybrid. My second vehicle used to average around 25 MPG of mixed highway and city driving, and I've recently noted that I'm getting closer to 28 MPG. I find myself "backing off" on the gas pedal - a habit I picked up after driving a hybrid. The moral of this story - hybrid vehicles not only help conserve fuel themselves, but could also make a contribution to fuel economy by changing a driver's habits when operating non-hybrid vehicles.

The environmental benefits of hybrid vehicles appeal to two types of car buyers: the driver who is concerned about climate change and pollution, and the wallet-conscious driver who wants to capitalize on the impressive fuel economy that hybrids offer.
