If you want a fuel economy car to hold your family and not compromise the look of a traditional car, then the Camry Hybrid should be a contender!
This is a family car that comfortably seats 4 adults. However, the backseat can accommodate 3 small-to-midsized children/tweens. Roomy backseat area doesn't feel or look cramped. It's a hybrid gas saver, but still looks like a car! I have been averaging 38 mpg with daily city and hwy driving.

Not up to Camry snuff

While an excellent driving, riding car with excellent economy.....there are problems.
1. Cruise control unstable....surges...can't maintain constant speed if the road is anything other than flat.
2. Speedometer reads 3 mph higher than actual speed. (as checked with my Garmin GPS)
3. Daytime readability of Instrument cluster is terrible. Dash lights must be turned all the way up to read the speedometer. Then, at night, the auto dimmer does not drop the lights nearly enough to avoid glare. Lights behind central instrument panel (radio, etc.) are blinding at night unless manually dimmed way down.
4. Brakes squall loudly when applied while backing the vehicle.
I've been to Toyota dealer and told nothing can be done about any of these things. I've owned the car since January, 2007. Like it except for the above problems.
