Cons: Consistently 21 mpg fuel economy with city/hwy being 50/50 which isn't great in my opinion. Does NOT have rear-view camera on touch screen. Touch screen is very, very minimal and nothing to brag about. Have to physically click the unlock button on the key fob to enter vehicle. Cannot have different temperature settings between driver and passenger. (All of these cons are fixed in 2015 model and ofcourse hybrid version. for fuel economy. I've owned both. My 2015 Hybrid Camry LE totaled) Pros: Does have wireless, bluetooth cellphone capability and touch screen accesses contacts, a customized speed dial, recent call history and make/answer phone calls! Has an adjustable lumbar support on driver seat. Large trunk AND large cabin.
I've had a '96 Accord, '03 Accord, '07 Civic, '05 4cyl LE Camry, '05 6cyl XLE Camry, '05 4cyl XLE Camry cloth seats. 05 4cyl has a timing chain which does not need to be changed. 05 6cyl has a timing belt which does obviously need a change and it an expensive job. Do your homework as far as how many owners, former smoker car, accidents, fooding etc... With that done the 05'06 Camrys are amazing basic transportation vehicles. No car is everything. However, even the 4cyl '05 Camry has PLENTY of punch when needed. It is a pleasure to drive in the most basic way. Probably not for mega driving enthusiasts. However, if you don't like headaches and are often in your "second home" (lol) the 2005 Camry can and has been great for me!
There's a reason the Camry is #1. It's not exciting, nor is it cutting-edge, but does everything you need it to, and does it well. Ride is smooth and quiet, everything is easy to use (controls are straightforward), interior is very spacious - can easily fit 4-5 people, baby car seats, luggage, etc. Love the power driver seat and leatherette trim in the SE. The infotainment is simple but a bit outdated and I wish Carplay was available. Projected reliability is high and 2 years free maintenance is a nice bonus. Overall, for the price, the value of a Camry can't be beat.
