I bought the 2008 Highlander Limited, 4WD, no Nav, in December 2008. I've been driving a Lexus RX since 1999 (3 of them) and decided it was time to scale back a bit. Knowing the quality of the Lexus's that I have been driving, I chose the new Highlander. This vehicle doesn't have quite the luxury in the leather trim that my RXs had, but this vehicle is every bit the same quality. Fit and Finish are excellent. The ride is very smooth and quiet. Real tight! No wind noise or aero issues with the new Highlander either. Gas mileage on the V6 3.5L is about 20MPG combined. My Rxs had same engine but got 23MPG. probably because the new Highlander is larger and heavier than the RX. There are a couple of areas Toyota could make improvements. The tailgate leaks water on you when you open it after a rain. Water comes from under the liftgate latch area. That's a bit annoying. The 3rd row seat should be a split seat for a combination of extra people and cargo. Toyota really needs to offer the programmable driver seat/side mirrors for multiple drivers on the Limited model. Lastly, the Highlander is not an overly large vehicle, so if you need cavernous space for kids and cargo, this vehicle may be a little small. But most likely, you move into large V8 vehicle, which I didn't want. This is a great vehicle and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a sport utility that has 7 pass seating and decent cargo space. Reliablity is unmatched in a Toyota product too.
Smooth driving. Comfortable seats. 4WD. Beautiful interior. Beautiful exterior. Lots of features.
The Highlander has exceeded my expectations so far. Very smooth, comfortable ride.. feels like you are "floating" on the highway. Tons of space. Gas mileage is pretty good for a SUV of this size.
