Transmission: Automatic Color: Blue Avg. Vehicle Review: 4.696 (47 reviews) "I waited several years to buy a Prius, wary about the battery, primarily. But a friend's 2004, now having accumulated nearly 200,000 miles, convinced me the risk was minimal, if any. So, I dove in and after a month and a half or so, I wish I'd had his foresight and bought the car years ago. One interesting and seemingly contradictory aspect about the car is that though it's ostensibly built for people who want to save money (or so one might think), it actually is more of a luxury car, sharing the navigation system with Lexus, for example. The car has many luxury features, such as the Smart Key and backup camera, and has the quiet, smooth ride of a fine car. Certainly not the environment and appointments of a prototypical economy car, by any means. That I see as a smart marketing and design move, and one I certainly appreciate. So yes, the car is built for drivers who want to make a statement, not necessarily simply save money on gas. Yes, it does that, certainly, but if that's all you want, it's probably not the car for you. In that stance of making a statement though, it's not at all alone, as the choice of any car is making a statement to a degree. A Hummer or a 4 x 4 Ram also makes a statement (one that sends me running for earplugs). In the end, the car does what it should: make me happy to drive it. Is it still contributing to global disaster? Perhaps, but I feel better knowing that though it probably is, it's doing it at a much smaller rate than many other choices. Perhaps doesn't quite add up to virtue, but you can see it from there."

Transmission: Automatic Color: Silver Avg. Vehicle Review: 4.696 (47 reviews) "I've only had my Prius a short time but I absolutely love it!. The two-phase way it starts takes a little getting used to, especially since it is so whisper-quiet. I have the so-called Level II amenity package so not all of the available bells and whistles but enough for me. I love the constant feedback on the fuel usage/MPG although at first you tend to get so enthusiastic about watching that screen that you have to remind yourself to watch the road! I am consistently averaging nearly 50 MPG with mixed city/highway driving but about 75% highway. This is with the cruise set at 72 mph in general. I know I could do much better at 65 mph but I couldn't bear being flipped off and honked at constantly. The hatchback section is pretty spacious for a small car. My daughter has a manual wheelchair that fits there if we remove the wheels and collapse it just a little. A friend tried to fit an extra-large stroller in and the stroller was too wide in the folded position, so maybe a Camry would be better for that. Several suitcases would go in just fine, and of course, the back seats fold forward for added room if needed. The back seats are pretty standard. More than adequate for kids, comfortable enough for adults, though I don't think I'd want to ride back there on a 1000-mile trip as an adult. The handling and turning radius is typical for a Toyota--extraordinary."

Transmission: Automatic Color: Black Avg. Vehicle Review: 4.696 (47 reviews) "Simply the happiest I've been when it comes to vehicle ownership. I use the car for work and average around 80 miles a day. I've had it for a few months now and average 47 mpg with the A/C on. I'm getting around 430 miles before I'm filling up with gas, costing around $26. I love the features, especially the blue tooth and the amount of controls on the steering wheel. The only complaint is the height of the gas and brake pedals. They are a little too high, which can be uncomfortable with long city driving."

It doesn't quite get 50mpg, but does consistently get around 44, probably because I'm on the highway going 75 most the time through hilly terrain. Transmission: Automatic Color: Green Avg. Vehicle Review: 4.696 (47 reviews) "The Toyota Prius is great for gas mileage, and it has a lot of gadgets and neat gizmos but the seats are too small for adults, they provide no thigh support at all and it has a rather large blind spot to the rear and sides in back. Very dangerous in my opinion."

Transmission: Automatic Color: Green Avg. Vehicle Review: 4.696 (47 reviews) "What a gas saver! I never thought that this small car, with a great fuel savings would also become my favorite car to drive. I have driven many vehicles from SUVs(Explorer) to a Sports Car(Corvette)to now this Prius. I recently drove from my home in Alabama to the Smoky Mountains in North Carolina. The vehicle was surprising powerful to navigate the eastern Appalachian Mtns. The interior room has plenty of space for a family of four. Then the biggest value for the money was the fuel savings. My Prius averaged 46 mpg during my trip and when I had to stop for fuel, which was only twice during the entire trip, it cost under $20 to refuel, Wow! My Prius came with in dash Navigation and Leather seats. I would recommend to anyone out there to purchase this gas miser and enjoy the savings."

Transmission: Automatic Color: Red Avg. Vehicle Review: 4.696 (47 reviews) "I travel between 500 and 700 miles per week for work and I needed a car with great gas mileage. This is IT! I love that I am truly averaging 43+ miles per gallon, and I do a lot of interstate driving. I know the mileage is a little better for City traffic but this is saving me a lot of money on gas -- really key with prices continuing to rise. It took a while to get comfortable with the navigation system (not as friendly or easy to program as my Garmin) but it has some great features like voice control. I love the Bluetooth making my cell phone hands-free and the climate control where I choose a temperature -- much better than a guess-gauge for comfortable driving. The only drawback I have found so far is the cargo capacity. There is a 810 lb limit for passengers and luggage which means I cannot use this for camping vacations for my family of 4. I also wish there was more flexibility with the driver's seat positioning but I am learning to adapt. I would highly recommend a Prius to anyone looking for a car. Great value overall."

Prius - a Winner
