In the past, the Prius was never a car I gravitated towards. I thought it would be too uncomfortable, require too many sacrifices in the name of fuel economy. However, after sustained high gas prices, I finally took one for a spin. As the salesperson told me before the test drive, the Prius is a love it or hate it proposition - with nothing in between. Fortunately for me, I loved it. I found it to be much more enjoyable to drive than the camry hybrid I initally was looking at. I found the car comfortable enough to trade in my previous daily driver, a Lexus RX SUV, for it. I have not been disappointed with my decision. I have owned many cars, and the ergonomics of the Prius are second to none. Every control is where it is needed, with many on the steering wheel. I love the audio system and the bluetooth, and the seats are much more comfortable than I ever expected. Similarly, the ride is quite decent and noise is fairly low, due in no doubt to it low drag coefficient. I also can't get over how roomy the car is. It feels much larger and airier than the Camry Hybrid, which was too cramped for me after coming from an SUV. The best part of the car is the MPGs. I have gotten as high as 68 MPG on a few mile city trip, and have consistently averaged 50+ MPGs - nothing short of miraculous considering I was getting 16.5 MPG week in, week out in my Lexus. If you've been on the fence about a Prius, do yourself a favor and test drive one. All things considered, I'm glad I waited for the 2012 model, as I like its revised design better than past Prii. As I said in the title, to own one is to love one. Just keep this in mind: There are many camry buyers who have traded in their cars for something else and never bought another Camry again. I have never met a Prius buyer who replaced his car with anything except a newer Prius. We're already talking about getting a Prius V (larger wagon Prius) for my wife.
