Transmission: Automatic Color: Gold Avg. Vehicle Review: 4.95 (138 reviews) "We bought our sequoia a little over 4 months ago,and love it so much!!! We were looking for a bigger vehicle, since we now have started a family, and wanted one that would last us through several children without becoming too cramped. We had originally wanted a 4-runner, but realized that the roomy 3rd row in the sequoia would help us be able to keep our vehicle much longer as our family continues to grow. There is plenty of cargo room even with the 3rd row in place (which is not true of the 4-runner...if a 3rd row is in a 4-runner, there is basically no cargo space remaining.) Furthermore, I can easily fold down the 3rd row and use it as a stroller platform, while stowing groceries in the regular cargo area. For long trips, it is super easy to fold up the 3rd row and literally have a cavern of storage space. The ride is super-smooth, the seats very comfortable, plenty of leg, shoulder, and head room even for my big and tall husband. Moving from a camry, I worried about being able to handle such a big vehicle, but was able to become accustomed to it very quickly. It really doesn't feel much bigger to me than a 4-runner when I'm driving it. We did install safety mirrors on our side-view mirrors, which tremendously helps the somewhat lacking visibility. The sound system and CD changer are very nice, and we love all the extra amenities provided in this vehicle. Overall, we feel so blessed to have such a lovely vehicle for such a reasonable price."

Best car I've ever owned

2001 Toyota Sequoia Aaron - Albuquerque, NM 11/22/2009

Our 4Runner was too small for three kids and a large dog. A Land Cruiser was too expensive. My wife already has a minivan. We wanted an all-purpose four-wheel-drive that would seat as many people as possible and not break down. After careful research, we avoided the American and German cars and settled back on Toyota. The Sequoia has remarkably little press and did not get much advertising from Toyota, presumably because it was perceived as a gas hog. Honestly, 16 mpg is not at all bad when you factor in the number of people you are hauling. When I fill all eight seats, I have almost twice the seating capacity of a Prius and I can drive from Creede, Colorado to Silverton the back way. Per person, I'd call that a good equation. The four-wheel drive is the same as a V6 4Runner or Tundra, that is to say part-time with traction control, low range and a locking center differential and great clearance. You can't get a four-wheel-drive system this good in an eight-seater unless you opt for a Land Cruiser. My vehicle came with leather, power folding side mirrors, climate control, premium sound, roof rack, running boards, etc, plus a Toyota V8 and transmission, all for $14,100. I guess the bottom dropped out of the market when gas hit $4. We couldn't be happier.

2013 Sequoia Platinum - Great family vehicle

2013 Toyota Sequoia David S - Gainesville, FL 05/12/2017

We like it because it's big enough to fit our family of 5 comfortably, but it doesn't look as bulky as some of the other larger SUV's on the road. The Platinum package gives you all the luxuries of a higher-end manufacturer.

They’re big. They’re bold. They’re kinda in your face. Tall pickup trucks and SUVs have the kind of ride height that gets you over, through, and around the kind of rough terrain which stops other vehicles in their tracks. If you live in a place with lots of snow, mud, or uneven ground, ride height (defined as the distance between the bottom of your truck’s tires and the lowest point on the underside) is probably more important to you than road-hugging and handling characteristics and strong fuel efficiency.
